This is a non-represented, exempt executive management position which reports to the City Administrator and is responsible for the supervision of all Public Works staff, either directly or through one or more supervisors. Direct reports currently include a Public Works Utility Manager, Public Works Supervisor, an Executive Operations Coordinator and an Office Assistant.
One of the first tasks of a new Director will be to evaluate public works needs and formulate short and long range plans to meet these needs in all areas of responsibility, including, street, water, wastewater, drainage, fleet, parks and facility maintenance; reorganization of the department’s current staffing is an option.
This position will perform a variety of supervisory, administrative and technical work in the planning, construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City infrastructure, facilities, and equipment, including street, water, wastewater, storm drainage, fleet, parks, facilities, and their associated systems.
