Salary Information: $55,798 – $71,199 per year plus full benefits
Description: The City of Gresham is seeking qualified applicants to fill two Public Utility Worker 2 vacancies on the concrete crew in the Transportation Division of the Department of Environmental Services. This position will work in a team environment outdoors in various weather conditions to perform labor intensive activities to maintain and repair the City’s transportation infrastructure. The Transportation Operations crew is overseen by a Transportation Superintendent and consists of 3 Public Works Field Operations Supervisors, 2 Public Utility Worker Seniors, and 19 Public Utility Worker 2’s.

What you will get to do:
• Perform concrete construction
o Excavate, form, pour, and finish concrete sidewalks, driveways and ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) ramps
o Collect and maintain data associated with concrete projects throughout the City of Gresham
• Repair and maintain roadways, bridges and rights-of-way
o Install, maintain, seal, and repair roadways, sidewalks, and bridges
o Assist in removing damaged road areas for excavation
o Prepare streets for overlays and slurry seals
o Patch, fill potholes, pave and sweep
o Fabricate and install street signs, barricades, traffic control devices and pavement markings
o Paint traffic markings, dividers, and parking spaces
o Maintain City lots and rights-of-way to include removal of debris and garbage
o Mow, spray, pull weeds, and trim vegetation
o Collect and maintain data of street signs, traffic control devices, pavement markings, and others
o Control traffic for emergencies and daily tasks
• Operate a variety of vehicles, trailers, equipment and tools
o Backhoes
o Excavators
o Loaders
o Dump trucks
o Light-duy trucks
o Bucket trucks
o Sweepers
o Pavers
o Rollers
o Welders
o Compressors
o Mowers
o Wide variety of other hand and power tools
• Perform winter operations
o Operate light-duty trucks to 10 yard dump trucks with trailers, plows, sanders, and/or de-icers
o Collect and maintain data
o May include working nights
• Provide service to the public
o Respond to and resolve inquiries and complaints regarding transportation related public works matters and service requests
o Provide information within scope of knowledge or refers to other, more experienced transportation crew members

Qualifications/Requirements: Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license
• Good driving record (based on our driving matrix below)
• 18 years of age or older
• One year of related work experience which includes construction, landscaping, and concrete installation.
• Must possess the physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation

Required certifications and licenses:
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification is required within 6 months of hire.
• Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Confined Space certification is required within 6 months of hire.
• Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Competent Person certification is required within 6 months of hire.
• Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) Flagger certification is required within 6 months of hire.
• Oregon or Washington Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A with Air Brakes and Tanker endorsements is required within 6 months of hire.
