Description: | The City Surveyor oversees the City’s land survey work. With the assistance of a two-person field crew, the City Surveyor acts as a lead over their work assignments and the processing of their field data as well as creating records of survey and other documents filed with our county surveyor’s office. The City Surveyor reports to the Infrastructure Development Services Manager in the City’s Department of Environmental Services, and works directly with the City’s Water, Wastewater, Stormwater, Parks, and Transportation Divisions as well as with the City Attorney’s Office and City Manager’s office.

Qualifications/Requirements: | Qualities we are looking for: • Someone who is adaptable to changing, intensive deadlines • Excellent analysis and problem solving capabilities • A customer focused individual who can negotiate and persuade as needed • Great communication skills both verbally and in writing • An effective decision maker • Solid leadership skills to direct and/or supervise others • An organized professional who can manage time effectively and prioritize work • Outstanding attention to detail • A relationship builder who seeks ways to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders and resolve conflictsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree • One to Four years of progressively related work experience in land surveying to include conducting land survey field work, creating or reviewing records of survey, creating or reviewing legal descriptions, creating topographic maps, performing boundary research, working with GPS survey equipment, working with RTK equipment and piloting survey UAV’s • 18 years of age or older • Valid driver’s license • Good driving record (according to our driving matrix below) • Oregon Professional Land Surveyor License is required. • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Remote Pilot certification (or ability to become certified within 6 months) is required. Any combination of qualifying education, training, and/or experience equivalent to 5-8 years will be considered.Driving Matrix: You will be disqualified from this process if you possess any of the following driving infractions: • A major traffic violation or accident that results in death or major injury. • Driving under the influence (DUI) charge within the last 5 years. • Have more than 3 moving violations within a 3-year period or more than 2 within a one-year period. • Have more than 2 accidents within a 3-year period. |
