Description: This Senior Engineering Technician position’s primary responsibility will be to perform and manage special projects related to civil engineering and land use planning in support of Gresham’s Development Engineering group. This position reports to the Infrastructure Development Manager and works most closely with that group of 14 people. Within that group are Public Works Inspectors, Land Surveyors, Development Engineering Specialists, and Civil Engineers. While this group’s responsibilities include both indoor and outdoor work, this position will work almost exclusively in an office setting.

This is a part-time position consisting of 10 hours per week and will require 50% of time to be spent on site and the remaining 50% remote.

What you will get to do:
• Manage several projects concurrently with varying priorities and time lines
• Research of related engineering practices, both on-line and through collaboration with other agencies;
• Perform analysis of engineering alternatives;
• Acquire project specific data, which may be either generally available or Gresham-specific
• Synthesize data and analysis to provide conclusions, in the form of written documentation and, in some cases, formal reports
• Provide recommendations for appropriate solutions to the problems/projects being analyzed, and coordinate the implementation of conclusions by development or incorporation of procedures, standards, and/or code.
• Examples of upcoming projects:
o Evaluate the acceptable amount of erosion runoff per the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RSULE)
o Create geotextile fabric specification for the City’s Public Works Standards
o Evaluate weir spacing standards for street-side swales
Qualifications/Requirements: What we are looking for:

Minimum Qualifications:
• Associates degree
• Three (3) to Six (6) years of progressively related experience.
Any combination of qualifying education, training, and/or experience equivalent to Five (5) to Eight (8) years will be considered.
